The City of Lights volunteers recently had a large victory in getting the Downtown Job Center approved for a bike repair space! Using the tools and supplies donated by REI and the Claremont Colleges, we have teamed up with the Bicycle Kitchen and IDEPSCA to provide job training skills to day laborers. Our vision is to create a self-sustaining space that is eventually run and managed by trained day laborers.

We are working hard on a curriculum and manual and are hoping to collect the last of the needed tools and supplies. Our first workshops with the day laborers at the Downtown Job Center have been well received, and we will continue to provide them through early March. Then beginning in April, we will begin our official intensive mechanic training.
More info to come! Keep checking in!
