The US Social Forum was a weeklong conference/convergence of activists from around the country to discuss Social Justice and the myriad of forms that that takes. We presented on BiciDigna on July 24th, and partnered with Chris Carlsson on his Nowtopia workshop the day before. The idea being that all communities that care about reaching out to cyclists or potential cyclists of color can do so if they have some cultural competence and willingness, amongst other things. And we don’t need to wait for the world to make the connection between environmentalism/environmental justice and bikes, but we can go ahead and forge projects now that highlight the connection.

Ramon, Allison, and Arlen in BiciDigna workshop

We held an “assemblea” with the jornaleros before we attended the Forum last week. In it, we asked them about their thoughts on how to run the BiciDigna space and their ideas on their identities and experiences as cyclists. We wanted to allow them an opportunity to “present” even if it wasn’t possible for all of them to attend. To watch the full video, click below.
